Wannabe models
How do I join your model agency?
Our modelling agency is always on the lookout for people in the London area who have the right looks and - equally important - the right personality to make a career in modelling. If you think you've got what it takes, then read on...
Model Agency Cetegories
Our models are divided into four categories:
- absolute fashion – gorgeous girls and beautiful boys, aged 16 to 25. Boys should be from 6'0" to 6'3" in height; girls should be from 5'7" to 6'0". Must have great looks and a body to match. Experience of modelling for fashion shows and the catwalk is always welcome. You should be young, vibrant, trendy and chic.
- absolute classic – men and women with timeless good looks, aged 25 to 50. Men should be from 6'0" to 6'3" in height; women should be from 5'7" to 6'0". We do not subscribe to the theory of many model agencies that a model's career is over by the age of 25. There is a growing demand for older models, and our modelling agency is at the forefront of providing them. Beauty, glamour and poise are the requirements.
- absolute character – personality-packed people, aged 16 to 90. Modelling isn't just about good looks, it's about a good look: if you've got a quirky face with striking features or an unusual physique, you could be every bit as successful as the more conventional model. So if you're short, tall, thin, fat, bald, hairy, or in any way out of the ordinary, then our modelling agency would like to hear from you.
- absolute plus – big and beautiful girls size 12 to 18, aged 16 to 50. Females only, from 5'7" to 6'0" in height. You don't have to be a supermodel to work for our modelling agency. The fuller figure is in vogue and if you're large and classically good-looking, then please get in touch.
- absolute actors – fresh faces and familiar names, aged 16 to 90 fully trained actors with Equity and Spotlight.
A fifth category, absolute actors, is open solely to professional actors and actresses with full Equity membership and a listing in Spotlight. If this applies to you and you are interested in our representing you, then please contact us separately at the address given in the 'Contact Us' section of this web site.
What's the next step in joining your model agency?
If you think you fit into one of the above modelling categories, then send us a good head-and-shoulders photograph of yourself together with a full-length body shot. There's no need to go to the expense of having professional photographs taken, a good holiday snap will do. You'll also need to send us your measurements, a brief summary of any relevant modelling or acting experience you may have, and an SAE. You'll find the address of our modelling agency in the 'Contact Us' section of this web site. Alternatively, you may e-mail your photographs, CV and measurements to us at wannabe@absolutemodels.co.uk instead of enquiries enquiries@absolutemodels.co.uk
Please note, we only see people by appointment at our modelling agency and we will only consider applications made by people who are NOT engaged in full-time employment: if we represent you, we will need you to be free to attend castings at all times.
What happens once I'm on board your model agency?
If we represent you, we will send you to a professional photographer to be 'tested' (i.e. photographed) - unless, of course, you already have some commercial shots which we can use. These pictures will then be used for your modelling portfolio and model card, and will be available for clients to look at on our modelling agency web site as well as in our model book. You will have to pay for these photographs yourself, but it's an investment which will rapidly recoup its outlay.
How important is my appearance to your model agency?
If you're serious about pursuing a career in modelling, it's vital that you look after your number one asset: yourself. It isn't very hard to do. Make sure you eat a healthy balanced diet, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, get a good night's sleep, and cut down on drinking, smoking and late nights. It may sound obvious, but your appearance really matters. So make sure your hair, nails, skin and teeth are clean, presentable and in good condition. Our modelling agency will brief you on what to wear when attending castings or meeting clients - and this advice should be followed closely. We are also happy to advise on diet, exercise, make up, hair and so on.
How much can I expect to earn with your model agency?
There is no such thing as a 'standard modelling fee', just as there is no such thing as a 'standard modelling job'. As one of our models, you will find yourself working for a variety of clients, in a number of different media, at a host of locations in London, around the UK and beyond. What you earn will depend on many separate factors: the length of the job, how much modelling experience you have, even what time of day you finish working. You can expect to earn anything from £150 a day for your very first photo shoot, to in excess of £1,000 per day for advertising work. And then there are repeat fees, foreign sales, merchandise endorsements, 'exclusivity' rights...
If it sounds like a contractual minefield, it's because it is! That's where our modelling agency comes in - in exchange for our commission, we will not only find you the work, but handle all your bookings, negotiate your fees, draw up your contracts, and even make sure you get your expenses. We take such good care of you at Absolute Models & Actors because you're the most valuable part of our business. We want you to stay with our modelling agency for many years to come, and that's why we work hard to help you build a career that will last.
